The construction continues at Jordan Valley Medical Center. The bed tower expansion is on schedule and the exterior is bricked and the majority of windows are installed. This bed tower is scheduled to open February 2009.
The Emergency Department addition is also on schedule. We have relocated beds to other adjacent areas within the hospital and have extra staff scheduled to accommodate construction. We are open and running at full capacity during construction. The new Emergency Department is scheduled to open October 1, 2008.
The major impact to our patients and visitors is the work being completed on the parking lot. Due to the slope and grade of our campus, significant excavation must occur to build the road east of the bed tower. This will necessitate the closure of this road for several weeks starting July 28, 2008 with an anticipated duration of three weeks. An alternate route to the Women's Center and Southridge Professional Plaza has been established and signage will be placed to clearly identify the detour route. At night, Mothers in labor should enter the hospital through the Emergency Department and they will be escorted to the Labor and Delivery Unit.

Construction of the southeast wing continues at a rapid pace. The expansion of the Emergency Department has also begun with the west addition already roughed in and attached to the existing building. Ground work continues at the south end of the emergency department, the main entrance to the Emergency Department continues to be open and is currently protected by a construction tunnel. Parking is available directly south of the construction fencing by the emergency entrance. The parking area directly east of the hospital is almost complete and when open will ease parking issues around the Women's Center entrance.

October 26, 2007
The expansion of the Emergency Department has begun which, will provide the department with an additional 12 beds for a total of 30 beds. The exterior walls of the department will expand to the south and to the west. The current ambulatory entrance on the south side of the Emergency Department will remain functional throughout construction. The general public will continue to use this entrance to enter the Emergency Department through a temporary tunnel that has been constructed. Signage has been placed near this entrance to prevent any confusion. Designated parking spaces have been placed as close to the Emergency Department as possible.
August 30 2007
Construction associated with the hospital expansion project has begun. This phase of the project will require the following:
Closure of half of the parking lot East of the Women's Center, this area has been fenced off for safety issues during construction. Patient and visitor parking is available North of the closed section and to the South and Southwest of the main entrance of the hospital.
A courtesy shuttle service will be provided from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday . The shuttle will maintain a continuous route around the campus parking lot circling approximately every 10 minutes. The shuttle is a white passenger van and displays the hospital name on both sides of the van.
August 1 2007
Preliminary site work begins on the south side of the hospital. Heavy construction is expected to begin November 2007. At this time there is no impact on patient/visitor parking and all entrances remain open.
